My books

Beside writing articles and stories I have put a lot of energy, time and money into publishing three books over the last 5 years or so. The books focused on what I felt needed some more attention and I thought I could contribute. I tried to have one of the books translated into English (Chytre letani – Flying smartly) but for several reasons my effort failed. Therefore I can only offer a brief summary of the four books that I published to date.

 
Flying Smartly - Chytré létání

I wanted to make it easy for anyone to understand the beauty of flying, the rules, the role of Air Traffic Control as well as enjoy some funny stories and cartoons. Therefore I wrote and published this book (more details in Czech language on www.chytreletani.cz). The book sold quite well until the remaining stock was destroyed in a gas explosion that I describe in one of the articles shown in the Articles section of this webpage. So now the book is only available in electronic form and can be downloaded for free – however, unfortunately in Czech only.

ABC of communism – Abeceda reálného socialismu
The vocabulary of the Czech language during the communist times acquired enormous amount of clumsy expressions, political jokes etc. which all gradually disappeared with the political and economic changes after 1989. I felt that it would be interesting to make a sort of dictionary of these to preserve them for the future. So I wrote this book which contains over 2000 expressions, about 300 political jokes, 50 photographs, a lot of quotations, references to and explanations of historic facts of the 1948-1989 era. The 700 page book is being sold in Czech Republic but again only in Czech language.

The World of Air Transport  - Svět letecké dopravy
I felt that there was no professional source of information and knowledge on airline business in Czech Republic. Therefore I put together a team of professionals with  whom I prepared this book which focuses on the most important issues of international air transport. It sells well and it is being used by several universities in Czech Republic and Slovakia as the main textbook on the subject of commercial air transport.

I am changing - Měním se

This is the name of our new and successful health programme. It is also a name for my book number 4 which intends to make people understand the principles of healthy lifestyle in a personalised way. The book is customized for every reader/customer according to the answers which he/she gives in response to 90 questions on our web. The book then talks directly to the reader, using his/her first name and explaining everything taking into account his/her negative as well as positivie habits. The programme as well as the book are currently offered in Czech and Russian languages on www.menimse.cz. English version is under consideration.
